Random question for cat peopleWhy is my cat sleeping in his food?
By which I mean, he is sleeping with his body curled up next to his food bowl and his head actually resting in the bowl is if his food was a pillow (I have tried to take a picture of this but he always somehow knows what I'm up to and runs off before I can get a clear shot). For anyone who's thinking "ew" I will point out that he gets dry food, so it's not as bad as it could be but still...why? He's been doing this for a few weeks now and I don't get it. Does anyone else's cat do this?

- I'm a progressive, left-wing Brit living in California. I used to be a high-tech sales guru, but got tired of that and am now thinking about going back to school to get a Masters in Journalism. My undergrad is in Psychology, but I have never used this in any constructive way. This is typical for me. I grew up mostly in the Middle East, was educated at a very fancy Scottish boarding school, moved to London at 18, and have lived in the Bay Area for the past 8 years. I am now suffering from a serious case of itchy feet, and am feeling that 8 years is quite long enough to stay in one place. Again, this is typical. If anyone really wants to figure me out they should Google "third culture" - I fit the prototype pretty closely. If any other Third Culture kids happen to stumble across this blog, write to me. There aren't very many of us.

dunno, but, hee! it sounds awfully cute, if uncomfortable.
My SO has started to refer to him as a "vagrant", particularly when he turns his head, nibbles a little food, then goes back to sleep.
I just don't get it because it's cold in the kitchen and usually he's a little heat-seeking missile.

there was a really cute picture of a kitten asleep with its face in a bowl of kibble floating around at some point. so, i think your guy is not alone in this.
mine used to do this weird ass thing where he laid on his back with the water dish at his head, and, from that position, played with tipping the dish until it tilted over and spilled water all over the place. it looked like he was trying to wear it as a hat.
